2011 - 2012 Trail Reports

Jan.  20, 2012:  Here at jct. CA 10 we received 3" of snow last night.  There is about 10" of snow on the ground in West Groton.  This AM Buzzy fired up the Sur Trac to take a grooming trip out through rt. 302 to the "Gore" and Butterfield Parking lot.  He will go up onto the Loop trail rt. 302C.  There is a chance that we might get 5 more inches Friday night.   You can get a short ride in.  Just turn around when you run out of snow cover.  That's the best we can do.

Jan. 20, 2012:  News for Snowmobilers in Buckaroos of 302 area.  Our favorite fueling and eating place The Upper Valley Grill & General Store will not have gas until after the first of Feb.  We thank owner Bill Kane for making the extra effort this winter, to provide fuel for our sleds.   Come with a full tank.

Jan. 15, 2012:  Yesterday Buzzy started the Sur Trac up at Tristan's garage in the Village and packed the trail from Upper Valley Grill & General Store up the railroad bed to Lanesboro.  Where he turned around at Jct. CA 12 coming back to CA 6 turning up the swamp trail to CA 5 over the hill to home base at CA 10.  Sunday 20 below here this AM.  Buzzy has the Sur Trac running and will pack rt. 302 to CA 9, OE 75, OE 76 up to Butterfield parking lot and back to OE 78.  Up onto the loop rt. 302C back to OE 75.  At CA 9 he will turn down Rt. 2004 for the trip back to CA 10.  Sur Trac will be parked until we get a 3 to 5" snow storm.  The Dead-end or Silver Ledge trail from CA 7 to CA 5 is plowed for logging.

Jan. 13, 2012:   There is about 6 to 7" of snow on the ground.  It has been raining off and on all morning.   Buckaroos have opened all the gates in their trail system.  If you come to a closed gate please do not go around it because there maybe some agreement with the landowner.  The trails on roads are ok, railroad bed is ok, woods trails are bad need more snow.

Dec. 29, 2011:  Snowmobile trail route 302 from Jct. OE 78 to Jct. WN 94 is temporarily closed.  We received a request from the Dept of Forest, Parks & Rec. to close this trail down because that section of State land is under a big logging operation.  This closure is temporary and for everyone's safety.  Hopefully the trail will reopen in three weeks.

Dec. 16, 2011:  Buckaroos of 302 VAST trail system is closed and the gates are still closed because we do not have enough snow.  Please honor this notice and stay off the trails till we get a big snow storm.   When we open the gates we will release a notice.  Not much we can do about the weather.   The snow always comes it is just a few days late this year.  Merry Christmas.
