2009 - 2010 Trail Reports
March 8: There is no snow in the forecast but we can expect colder temperatures at night so we will try to groom
as often as possible. There is still good snow cover in the "gore" and "loop" trail rts. 302,
302C and 2004. Butterfield parking lot is snow covered. There is still snow cover at Jct. CA 10 and over the hill
to the RR bed rts. 302, 302A and C 2/302. Plan to turn around when you hit dirt. The trail in Peacham
from CA 13 & CA 14 to trail rt. 234 is closed. No snow. The trail from CA 4 at Ricker Pond down to the
Upper Valley Grill is still closed. No snow.
March 6: Last night Buzzy groomed the rt. 232 loop from Ricker Pond CA 4 around to CA 18 and down to CA 12 back
down the RR Bed. Came back to CA 10. Carl climbed into the Sur Trac at 2 AM and groomed out to Butterfield
Parking lot and back to CA 9 turn down rt. 2004 and came back to CA 10 at 6 AM. We will groom these same
trail tonight. Remember the trail is closed from CA. 4 Ricker Pond down to the Upper Valley Grill. There is no
snow in the ball field. We have a bon fire going at Jct. CA 10 for you to cook your hot dogs.
March 6 & 7 Sat. and Sunday Buzzy will keep a bon-fire going below Jct. CA 10 behind our house.
We invite everyone to bring there family & friends to the bon-fire to cook your hot dogs on a stick or whatever you choose.
Buzzy will furnish the fire, tables, sticks, mustard, relish and ketchup. There is still good snow in the "gore"
and Butterfield Parking lot. We welcome any suggestions. Also please feel free to call 802-584-3630 or e-mail
Betty at; bnbuzeastman@fairpoint.net for latest trail conditions. March 3: Buzzy left early this AM to groom
over the hill to CA 5 down rt. 302A to CA 7 up to Boulder Beach road there he will turn and come back to CA 7 CA 6 and turn
at CA 4 Ricker Pond and return back to CA 10. We will be grooming on a day to day decision depending on the weather.
The trail from Ricker Pond CA 4 to the Upper Valley Grill has been closed because there just is not enough snow in the fields
to protect the land. We are looking for an alternate route.
March 1: It was 28 degrees this AM. There is about 14" of snow at the snow stake down at the horse
barn. The Sur Trac was fired up. Buzzy grabbed his brown bag lunch and climbed back into the drivers seat.
Left early going over the hill to CA 5 down onto the RR bed at CA 7 up to "Lanesboro" CA 12 turned up rt. 2 to CA
18. There he will climb the hill on rt. 232 going to Choates pasture, Hooker Mt., Hookerville Cut-Off Road and turn
at the Covenant Church yard. He will come back the same route. On Tuesday Carl Emerson will be the teamster on
the Sur Trac. He will Leave CA 10 and groom out to the "Gore and Loop" trail rts. 302, 302C turning at Butterfield
Parking lot. Trail rt. 302 where it crosses the Groton State Forest road down near the Upper Valley Grill
is a sensitive area. There is lawn grass under the trail at the storage bldgs. When the snow becomes too thin
it is Buckaroos responsibility to protect the land from damage from the cleats on the groomer and carbides on the snowmobile
skis. When this happens we will put up a trail closed sign at Ricker Pond. CA 4
February 27: Saturday morning Buzzy was in the "gore and loop trail" grooming. The snow
is unbelievable deep. The trail will turn to bumps very quick because there was a lot of traffic and the temperature
was in the 30's. We just wanted to get the trails open and widen out. Saturday evening Buzzy went over the hill
to CA 5 down "dead end road" to CA 7 on the RR bed. Down to CA 6 CA 4 and turned around in the ballfield.
Came back to CA 4 CA 6 CA 7 turned around at Boulder Beach road because there was a big tree across the trail.
The tree was hung up high enough for the sleds to go under. But too big for the chain saw we had in the Sur Trac.
We will ask some of the volunteer trail workers to cut it down and out of the way on Sunday. Our plan for Sunday is
to groom from CA 4 Ricker Pond up trail rt. 232 to CA 18 down to CA 12 back to CA 7 CA 6 CA 5 back home to CA 10. Monday
we will go to CA 18 and groom the trail to Cabot. Thank you for your patience. We are very happy to get the snow
but we need the temperature to drop to at least 20 for the trail to hold. When you can make a snowball the snow just
will not flow through the groom.
February 26: At 5 AM the temperature is 32 degrees. It rained and the wind blew most of the night.
The snow has dropped and is wet right through to the ground. We are reduced to about 12" of snow here
at Jct. CA 10. We can not groom until the temperature drops to the 20's.
February 25: It snowed all yesterday. Here at Jct. CA 10 we reached 17" of snow. Up in the
"Gore" there was close to 24". Buzzy groomed over the hill to CA 5 down onto the RR bed at CA 7 down
to CA 6, CA 4 turned and came back to CA 6 CA 5 CA 10. Stopped for a late lunch. At 3:30PM he started grooming
from CA 10 on trail rt. 302 going towards CA 9 "Gore" OE 75 OE 76 up to Butterfield parking lot where he turned
and came back to CA 9. The temperature is 32 degrees at 5 AM. Temperature is suppose to reach a high of 37 degrees
today. That is not good. We need cold temperatures to groom. The trail from Ricker Pond to the Grill has
been re-opened.
February 24: As of 9 AM we have 13 inches of new snow
in West Groton at Jct. CA 10. It is still snowing. Snow is cling to the trees. Let the snowmobiles
start to run it helps pack the snow for the Groomers to go through. This is great !!
February 24: 5 AM Here at Jct. CA 10 on trail rt. 302 we have 7" of new snow. Another storm is suppose
to move in tonight and Thursday. We will post a grooming report asap. This is what we have been waiting for !
We will be checking field that is closed to see if it can be opened.
February 22: The trail is closed from Ricker Pond CA 4 down the RR bed to the Upper Valley Grill. There
is no snow in the two landowner fields at the Ballfield. When we get snow the trail will reopen. But until than
please stay off this section of trail. It is our responsibility to protect the landowners land. Buzzy
left early this AM to groom trail rts. 302 & 302C the "Gore and Loop" trails. The temperature
is expected to climb into the high 30's today. Making it too warm to groom. We are suppose to get some snow this
week. We will groom the RR bed when we can.
February 19: Conditions of our trail system have not changed. We have not lost any snow nor have we gained
any snow. There was a light dusting of snow last night. I would like to ride in some snow dust wouldn't
you? Today Buzzy is grooming from CA 10 rt. 302 over the hill to CA 5 down to the RR bed and up to "Lanesboro"
CA 12 from there he will turn up rt. 2 to CA 18. Cross the bridge on rt. 232 to CA 13 go to the Bog loop and turn
around. We are not grooming from CA 4 Ricker Pond up rt. 232 to CA 13. That trail is passable but needs more snow
to groom. We recommend that if you want to go to West Danville from Jct. CA 13 that you get to CA 13 by going the same
way that Buzzy is grooming today.
February 17: As of 7 AM we have not received any new snow. Buzzy will groom from CA 10
over the hill to CA 5 down to RR bed at CA 7 up to CA 12 turn onto rt. 2 going to CA 18. There he will continue grooming
towards Cabot till the snow runs out. We still have good snow in the Gore and Loop. Butterfield parking lot has
snow on the ground so you are not unloading in the dirt. We are still grooming the Gore & Loop trails.
Rt. 232 from CA 4 around to CA 18 is scratchy and boney. Rt. 302 from Groton Village to CA 4 up rt. 5 to Pitstop
is rated fair. We will not be grooming these trails till we get a snow storm. They are passable if you need to
use them. Where is the Vermont snow?
February 15: The Town plow went by at 5:30 this AM. So it must have snowed a few inches. When it
gets daylight Buzzy will fire up the Sur Trac and start grooming from Jct. CA 10 to CA 9 out to the "Gore and Loop".
That is rts. 302 and 302C. Turn up to Butterfield parking lot and go around the loop again and back to CA
10. The Butterfield Parking lot is big and will park several rigs so you can unload and enjoy the Buckaroos trail system.
There is a new big parking lot down below Upper Valley Grill, next to Groton Tire & Auto. The local weather report
is forecasting a snow storm coming in late Tuesday & Wednesday. We could get 2 to 5" of new snow.
On Tuesday Buzzy and Carl will groom the RR bed to Lanesboro CA 12 up to CA 18. From CA 18 the Sur Trac will climb the
hill going towards US RT. 2. We may have to turn around at Choates pasture. Mid and late week grooming will
depend on whether or not we get the snow. Keep checking our report. We will keep you informed.
February 10: There is good news. Buckaroos trails system is snow covered and groomed. This
Sat. is the Buckaroos of 302 Dick Page Ride-in and Chicken BBQ. This event is held at the Groton Town Garage located
right off snowmobile trail rt. 302 just below the Upper Valley Grill. If you are outside the Buckaroos trail system
and can ride your sled to Danville or West Danville you can ride into the Chicken BBQ. Take Jct. CA 109 trail rt.
234 out of West Danville/Joes Pond down to Jct. CA 14 across to CA 13 on trail rt. 232. Watch for Ride-in &
Chicken BBQ signs to direct you to the Groton Garage. Serving starts at 11 AM goes till we sell out of Chicken.
A fun time for everyone. Ride your sled or come by car. There are three big parking lots for those that would
like to unload their sleds to ride the Buckaroos trail system before and after the Chicken BBQ. Yesterday Buzzy
groomed from Ricker Pond CA 4 up trail rt. 232 to CA 13 across to CA 18 there he turned and came back to CA 13 CA 4 CA 6 CA
7 CA 5 home to CA 10. Today Buzzy will groom over the hill to CA 5 to CA 6 CA 7 up to "Lanesboro" CA 12 turn
onto trail rt. 2 grooming to CA 18 up the hill on trail rt. 232 to Choates Pasture, Hooker Mt. down to Hookerville Cut-off
road through the fields and down to US RT. 2. Carl Emerson will meet Buzzy at RT 2 and take over the wheel of
the Sur Trac for the grooming trip back home to New Discovery, Lanesboro and West Groton. Tomorrow the Sur
Trac will be grooming down to the Upper Valley Grill, continuing past the exit for the Chicken BBQ, watch for signs,
down through Groton Village to CA 1 up trail rt. 5 to the Pitstop. Where we turn and return the same route
to CA 10. Trails are early winter riding conditions.
February 7 @ 2 PM. It is cloudy with a few snow flurries flying around. The extended five day weather
forecast calls for cloudy with chance of snow flurries. The Buckaroos trail system has snow cover similar to early
winter riding. The Sur Trac will be out grooming each day. The Dick Page Ride-in and Chicken BBQ is this
coming Sat. the 13th. We start serving at 11 AM and will serve till all the chicken are gone. There are
several parking areas for you to trailer to. Unload and take a ride on our trails. Than stop at the Groton Town
Garage, located just below the Upper Valley Grill for Chicken BBQ dinner with all the fixings. Watch for signs on the
trails. This is a fun dinner that you just do not want to miss. If you are trailering from I-91 on Rt. 302 there
is a big parking area at Groton Tire and Auto or you can park at the Upper Valley Grill. Coming from Barre there is
the big parking lot on US Hwy RT 302 Butterfield Parking lot. All the parking lots put you right onto Buckaroos trail
system. I will be sure and let you know when the BIG storm comes.
February 4; Trail Conditions are getting better in the Buckaroos trail system. Buzzy has groomed all our trails.
Except the trail going to US HWY RT 2 Cabot. He is grooming there today. Not just sure if he can make
it all the way to the highway. He may have to turn in Hookerville Cut-Off Road. The trail rt. 2B at CA 13 off
trail rt. 232 is open to Joes Pond or West Danville. So you can ride north. You will have to check with clubs
to the north to inquiry about conditions. The Good News is that Buckaroos of 302 have many parking areas for you to
unload. Ride our trail system, go to the Upper Valley Grill for Food, Gas and Entertainment !!
February 1; Saturday and Sunday night Buzzy groomed the "Gore and Loop" trail rts. 302, 302C and 2004.
He also went over the hill to the RR Bed and groomed from Lanesboro CA 12 to Ricker Pond CA 4. There is snow
enough to ride these trails. Today, Monday the Sur Trac will leave CA 10 in West Groton on trail rt. 302. Groom
over the hill to the RR Bed, down to CA 4 Ricker Pond and up rt. 232 and groom to CA 18 above New Discovery. There he
will turn and return the same trail route. We have to ride the trail to US HWY RT. 2 to check trail conditions before
we can send the groomer on that trail.
January 31; It was 15 below here at Jct. CA 10
this AM. Last night Buzzy warmed up the Sur trac for a grooming trip out through the "Gore and Loop" trail
rts. 302 and 302C. Gore and Loop is snow covered and groomed good, from CA 10 over the hill to CA 5 is boney.
Best way to get to the RR bed is trail rt. 302A down to CA 7. RR bed from Lanesboro CA 12 to Ricker Pond CA 4 is good. Watch
for the logging operations. Sur Trac will go out Monday grooming from CA 4 Ricker Pond to CA 18. At
CA 13 off trail rt. 232, down trail rt. 2B there is a gate closed in Peacham. Until there is more snow. Trail
rt. 302 from CA 4 down to Upper Valley Grill is passable. Below Groton Village the trails are not too good. If
you are planning a snowmobile trip I suggest you contact the areas you would like to ride in to ask what the trail conditions
are. Now is the time to do the Snow Dance. A 6" snow storm is what we need. The riding is better
than it is in July.
January 29: Last night a snow squall blew in and dropped about 3" of snow. Than the wind started
to blow. There is enough snow so that you do not have to worry about lubrication for your sliders. But the
trails are rock hard and many icy spots. At 7AM It is 2 below here at Jct. CA 10 and windy. The Groomer will not
go out until we get more snow.
January 26: It is not raining this AM. Temperature is 30. Majority of the trails are in poor condition.
Trails are spotty. You will find snow cover. You will find very icy spots. You will find bare ground depending
on location. This AM the trails are hard and very minimum lubrication. Be sure and check the areas that
you are thinking of riding in. I do not know conditions outside our system. We need a 6 to 8" snow
storm before we can groom.
January 25: Everyone got out and enjoyed snowmobiling this past week-end. The weather and trails were
beautiful. Get ready for a change. The weather is in the crapper. This AM it is 32 degrees. Weather
channels are threaten rain and warm temperatures for the next two or three days than cold will come in by the end of the week.
Sunday night Buzzy groomed the "Gore and Loop" trails 302 and 302C in hopes to lay a smooth trail
before the rain. When conditions improve and we can groom we will keep you informed.
January 22: Last night at 6:30 PM Dave Wheatly climbed into the Sur Trac to take it for a grooming trip from
CA 10 in West Groton over the hill to CA 5 and down onto the railroad bed. Grooming down to Ricker Pond at CA 4 and
turning up rt. 232 going to the bog loop. Than CA 13 turning down on rt. 2B grooming to Kempton's fields, turn around
come back to CA 13 and continuing on to CA 18 where he turned around and came back over the same trail to the railroad bed
and back to home base at CA 10. This AM the temperature is 4 above. We are expecting rain on Monday.
Lets hope it does not happen. Today Buzzy will fire up the Sur Trac and start grooming rt. 302 going toward the
"gore" CA 9 OE 75 OE 76 up to the Butterfield parking lot and back to OE 78 up on the "loop" trail rt.
302C coming back onto rt. 302 at OE 75 back to CA 9 and down trail rt. 2004 and back home to CA 10. Dave Wheatly will
do our usual Friday and Saturday night grooming. Stay in touch for trail conditions next week.
January 20; Yesterday Buzzy groomed from CA 10 over the hill to the railroad bed at CA 7 down to Ricker Pond
at CA 4 up rt. 232 at CA 13 he groomed down rt. 2B to Kemptons fields. Came back to rt. 232 and continued to groom to
CA 18 where he turned up the hill going to Cabot. Turning around at US RT. 2 coming back to CA 18 down rt. 2 to CA 12
turned down the railroad bed to CA 7 turning onto rt. 302A to CA 5 and groomed over the hill back to CA 10. The trail
system is snow covered and we would rate them a 6. This grooming route took from 8 AM to 9 PM. There is a
new logging operation at New Discovery. Trail rt. 2 is plowed from Groton State Forest Road to the sharp turn
going to Osmore Pond. Be alert for logging equipment.
January 19; The new snow is sticky and does not drop off the cutting blades. We need the temperature to
drop. Today Buzzy will groom over the hill to CA 5 on rt. 302 down onto the railroad bed. It will depend on how
the snow is flowing through the blades. If at all possible he will groom to CA 12 rt. 2 up to CA 18 and to Cabot and
turn at US RT. 2. Come back either through "lanesboro" or Ricker Pond depends on the snow conditions.
There is a new logging operation at New Discovery. The trail rt. 2 /road will be plowed from Groton State Forest Road
into Osmore Pond. Forester Richard Greenwood has informed us that the trucking has been restricted Friday afternoon
through Sunday.
January 18; Last nights storm dropped about 4" of snow here at Jct. CA 10 on rt. 302. The temperature
is 27 degrees. Snow is hanging on the trees. Buzzy is going to fire up the Sur Trac and see if the snow will groom
or just roll up in a ball. Hopefully the past few days was the January thaw and now we will settle into winter.
January 15th: Temperatures are expected to hang in the 30's during the day and 20's at night for the
next few days. Weather permitting the Sur Trac will groom down the railroad bed, pass Upper Valley Grill, beyond
Groton Village to CA 1 and turn up rt. 5 and groom as far as we can towards the "Pitstop". Sur trac will turn
around and come back to CA 4 where we will groom rt. 232 around to CA 18 and down to CA 12 on rt 2 to "lanesboro"
coming back to CA 7 and up rt. 302A to CA 5 and back to CA 10. This is a long week-end. Weather permitting
We will be grooming Sat. and Sun. night.
January 14 Doug Smith climbed into the drivers seat of the Big Blue Sur Trac and started grooming from CA 10 on rt.
302 towards the "Gore" CA 9 OE 75 OE 76 up rt. 302B to The Butterfield Parking Lot where he turn and came back to
OE 76 out rt. 302 to OE 78 and climbed up the hill to groom the "loop" on trail rt. 302C back to OE 75 CA9 and CA
10. Trails in that area are still in excellent cndition. Lower elevations there is less snow. No storm in
sight.
January 12: Everyone do the snow dance ! We are in desperate need of a 6" snow storm. Our trail
system is still snow covered. The water drains are froze up. The higher elevation we would rate as a 7 or
8. Use caution when you get below Groton Village. Trail rt. 5 going down into the "pitstop" snow is
very thin. But you come back into ample snow as soon as the trail climbs in elevation. Stay off the Lakes &
Ponds ice is not thick. Watch out for stones, in the trail, that the groom has kicked out. Sur Trac has
to go in for service today.
Today Jan. 11th we received a letter from the landowner at five corners, on trail rt. 232.
He has re-opened his land so that we may open the gate and let snowmobile traffic travel on his land. With the understanding
that we clean up rocks, trees and debris when the land dries out in the Spring. This is wonderful news and a very nice
gesture. We can get the trail off the North County Road. Buzzy is grooming today but he will open the gate tomorrow
and remove the signs from the North County Road. We will write a letter and thank him for his generosity.
January 11: Dave Wheatley groomed all Sat. night leaving at 5 PM and arriving back at 6AM. Dave
groomed almost all the Buckaroos trail system. Dave climbed back into the Sur Trac Sun. night to groom the
railroad bed. Thanks Dave for all the hours. Today Monday Buzzy will fire up the Sur Trac early in the AM and
start grooming from CA 10 over the hill to CA 5 down onto the railroad bed on rt. C 2/302 and groom up to "Lanesboro"
. At CA 12 he will turn up rt. 2 and continue on to CA 18 where he will climb up the hill on rt. 232 going towards Hooker
Mt. Turning around at US Hwy. Rt. 2 in Cabot. The Sur Trac will groom back to CA 18 down to CA 12 coming
back home to CA 10. Remember the logging on the railroad bed rt. C 2/302 between Boulder Beach Rd. & Kettle Pd.
Crossing. Logging equipment have the right away. Our trail system is all snow covered except rt. 5 going towards
the "Pitstop" is a little skinny on snow, but passable. Do the snow dance.
January 9 Last night Buzzy climbed into the Sur Trac at 9 PM. Left CA 10 on rt. 302 going towards the railroad
bed. He groomed down to Upper Valley Grill & General Store came back to CA 12 at "Lanesboro". Where
he turned around and came back to CA 10 and groomed towards the "Gore" CA 9 down to OE 75, OE 76 up rt. 302B to
Butterfield Parking lot. Turned around and came back to OE 76 out trail rt. 302 to OE 78 and turned up trail rt. 302C
to groom the "loop" arriving back at OE 75 where he turned up rt. 302 to CA 9 and groomed down trail rt. 2004 and
back to CA 10. Out of the Sur Trac at 5:30 AM and into bed. We will be grooming tonight, Sat. We do
need a snow storm.
January 7; Yesterday Carl groomed the loop from CA 4 Ricker Pond to Jcts. of 2 & 232 at CA 18. Last
night Dave Wheatly climbed in the Sur Trac and groomed from rt. 302 from CA 10 to CA 9, OE 75 OE 76 up to Butterfield Parking
Lot turned and came back to CA 9 where Dave turned down rt. 2004 to come back home to CA 10. Temperatures are going
to start dropping. Trails should be good for the week-end. We will do our usual Sat. night grooming.
January 6; Light snow coming down. Carl Emerson will climb into the
drivers seat this AM and guide the Sur Trac over the hill to CA 5 down onto the railroad bed. Down to Ricker Pond at
CA 4 and turn up trail rt. 232 going towards the new Jct. CA 13 which is the turn at Martins Pond for trail rt. 2B to Peacham,
West Danville, West Barnet and Danville. Carl will groom to CA 18 on trail rt. 2. There he will turn around and
come back to CA 4 Ricker Pond and come back home over the hill to CA 10. There is good snow cover in the higher elevations.
A little skinny when you get below Groton Village. Be alert for water holes. Colder temperature is moving in for
the week-end so that should help on the water holes. Remember the logging on the railroad bed between Boulder Beach
Road and Kettle Pond Crossing on trail rt. C 2/302. State of Vermont will be logging there the rest of the winter and
next winter too.
January 5; CAUTION, SLOW, LOGGING HAS RIGHT AWAY Yesterday
a logging operation moved in on the railroad bed between Boulder Beach road and Kettle Pond crossing on trail rt. C 2/302.
There are logging signs up at Boulder Beach road. Be sure and slow down while traveling through this section of trail.
Buzzy in the Sur Trac groomed from CA 10 over the hill to CA 5 down on to the railroad bed and up rt. C 2/302 to CA 12 up
rt. 2 to CA 18. Up the hill on rt. 232 to US highway RT 2 in Cabot. There he turned around and came back the same
route to CA 10. Today Carl will do the grooming route to railroad bed down to CA 1 and up rt. 5 to the Pitstop turn
and come back the same route to CA 10. The trail system should be in good condition for late week riding and we will
do our usual grooming this Sat. night.
January 4, 2010 We did get snow over the week-end. But the wind blew so hard that the
best guess is that we got around 5 to 6". The trails are all snow covered and we have been grooming. More
snow in the higher elevations than in the valley. Today Carl Emerson will climb into the drivers seat and groom over
the hill to the Railroad bed. Up to CA 12 "Lanesboro" turn around and come back to CA 4 continue down past
the Upper Valley Grill. Groom through Groton Village down to CA 1 and turn up Rt. 5 grooming to the "Pitstop"
where he will turn and come back to the railroad bed. Arriving back at CA 10 late evening.
HAPPY NEW YEAR Jan. 1, 2010 Another dusting of snow
came last night. The trails are snow covered but expect hazards, such as rocks rolled out by groomers, water drains
that should have a culvert. We are going out for a ride and hope that everyone else finds the time to hit the trails.
When watching Betty Cam keep an eye on the two rail fence. It will give you an idea of the snow cover here at Jct.
CA 10. The Sur Trac was out grooming yesterday. Hopefully trails will start to harden up and we can get on with
the sport of snowmobiling and grooming.
December 31, The temperature is 12 above and calm. Buzzy will groom from CA 10 on rt. 302 out to the "Gore"
area on rt. 302 Jcts. CA 9 OE 75 OE 76 up to Butterfield Parking Lot and back to OE 76 out to OE 78 and groom up the
"loop" on trail rt. 302C. Coming back rt. 2004 to CA 10. There is excellent snow cover in the "Gore"
and "Loop". The Railroad bed from CA 4 to CA 12 has good snow cover and groomed good. Keep in mind that
we are still in the early stage's of grooming and trails have not reached the 8 to 10 rating. The Northeaster that was
predicted has split in two and we can expect snow fall for the next four or five days. Hopefully we will end up with
6 to 8" of new snow on the trails by Sunday. We will be grooming each day. Happy New Year
December 30; It was 18 below at 7 AM here at Jct. CA 10. We have 5 to 6 inches of new snow on the ground.
It is suppose to snow each day through Sat. No sure if we will get a real northeaster. Buzzy will fire up the
Sur Trac and head over the hill to CA 5 and down onto the railroad bed at CA 7. From there he will groom to CA 12 and
back to CA 4. That will give him some idea what the trail conditions are. We definitely will be out grooming these
next few days. I am sure tht you will have good snow cover on the trails for this coming week-end. Happy New Year
December 29; Yesterday's snow showers turned into today's cold temperature and very windy. There is a
2 to 3" dusting on the trails. Use caution if you decide to go out on Buckaroos trail system. Extended forecast
is calling for a Northeaster on Friday and Saturday. Big Blue Sur Trac will not be able to go out until we get 6 to
8" of snow.
December 27 Mother Nature done it to us again. At 11 PM last night it started raining and has rained stead
since that time. The trails are a soggy mess and there will be water everywhere till the temperature drops. Have
faith the temperature will drop and hopefully we will get the snow we need. But as of right today most trails are closed.
We will keep you informed.
December 26 This afternoon Buzzy & I took a ride around some of Buckaroos trail system.
To rate the system on a 0 to 10. When the trail has an old gravel road for a base the trails are an 8. When the
trail goes through the woods with a trail constructed base I would rate them from 4 to 6. The railroad bed from
CA 4 to CA 12 is a 9! The trail system is all snow covered. But be alert for trail hazards such as rocks and ditches.
There is a new Jct. between CA 4 and CA 18 on trail rt. 232. Jct. CA 13 it is not on your latest map. Jct.
CA 13 is rt. 2 going to West Barnet and Danville. I do not know what the snow conditions are to West Barnet & Danville.
After Jan 4th there will be a Jct. off rt. 2 that will re-open the old trail rt. 233 & 234 to West Danville or Joes
Pond. 4PM It is not raining or snowing. Temperature about 28 degrees so Buzzy fired up

On Dec. 14th Buzzy's Grooming will fuel up the new Sur Trac and start opening up the trails. Keep in mind that getting
